Copywriter Sheree Millington might have been eliminated from Interior Design Masters in week one for failing to show a clear personal style, but step inside her Margate home, and that couldn’t be further from the truth.
In the heart of Margate, a coastal town that seamlessly blends artistic flair with seaside charm, resides Sheree Millington—a copywriter whose passion for interior design has transformed her Victorian terraced house into a vibrant sanctuary. Originally from Leeds, Sheree's journey to Margate began five years ago during a visit that left an indelible mark. "As soon as I stepped off the train, I felt at home and said, 'I’m gonna live here,'" she recalls. Two years later, she made that vision a reality, purchasing a Victorian home that mirrored the architectural elegance of her childhood residence.
Sheree Millington might have been eliminated from Interior Design Masters in week one for failing to show a clear personal style, but step inside her coastal home, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. If anything, she’s got bags of it. A self-described chill maximalist, her Victorian terrace is a love letter to colour, creativity, and the joy of making a space truly your own.
And while her time on TV may have been short-lived, her interiors journey is far from over. Through her Instagram, @chez.shez, Sheree has been sharing the evolution of her home—one bold paint choice, thrifted treasure, and upcycled masterpiece at a time.
True Colours
Sheree's design philosophy is deeply rooted in her diverse heritage, blending the minimalist principles of her Danish mother with the vibrant influences of her Jamaican father. This fusion results in spaces that are both lively and serene. And right now, there’s one shade Sheree can’t get enough of—yellow. “I just think it’s such a happy colour,” she says. And that love is written all over her home. Her lounge is swathed in India Yellow by Farrow & Ball, a deep, sun-baked mustard that gives the space an irresistibly cosy glow. Meanwhile, her dining area takes a softer approach with Yellow Beige by Coat Paints—a delicate lemon hue that keeps things fresh and light.
Her love of colour doesn’t stop there. A minor pasta sauce disaster (we’ve all been there) resulted in her lower kitchen cupboards being repainted in a bold blue. Instead of playing it safe, she embraces happy accidents and unexpected pops of personality—proving that interiors don’t always have to be so serious.
Chic Meets Second-Hand
For Sheree, style doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag. She’s a master of the second-hand find, from reupholstering a dining set she picked up for under £100 to scouring vintage shops and online marketplaces for hidden gems. “Having a limited amount of cash forces you to be creative,” she says - and her home is living proof.
But it’s the details that make all the difference. Her brass kitchen hardware, a mix of swirly handles and stylish backplates, has completely elevated her units. “They feel so much better than the cheap builder-grade handles I had before - I just keep opening cupboards now,” she laughs.
Chill Maximalism in Action
Despite her week one exit from Interior Design Masters, Sheree has proven she knows exactly who she is when it comes to interiors. Her home is a perfect example of chill maximalism—where bold colour meets a relaxed, unpretentious vibe. It’s playful, it’s lived-in, and most importantly, it reflects her.
Through her love of upcycling, fearless colour choices, and an approach that’s all about joy rather than perfection, Sheree has crafted a home that feels personal, vibrant, and completely original. Proof that great interiors aren’t about following trends - they’re just about creating a space that makes you happy.
